Testimonials from community-based project clients and volunteers

The project carried out by Sara in Basingstoke was tremendous. The management plans prepared by Sara were very well thought out and were implemented quickly and efficiently. The part of the site in question was transformed into a fully functional and working allotment/horticultural set-up that helped to transform people’s lives. Very professionally and competently run by Sara.

The clients that Sara worked with and mentored developed really well under Sara’s guidance with positive outcomes to their wellbeing.

I had just moved back to the area and was suffering greatly with anxiety and depression.

My self-confidence was at rock bottom when I was referred to the project run by Sara.

The atmosphere was so calming and Sara and the others so welcoming that I instantly felt at home there.  There was a happy vibe about the project with people actively involved in tasks that suited their capabilities and interests but without any pressure.

Although I had had jobs in horticulture before, I had never had much responsibility.  But Sara quickly recognised my potential and when, after a year, a part-time job on the project arose she gave me all the support and encouragement I needed to apply for it.  I got the job and stayed on after Sara left to do other things.  Three years and several courses and promotions later, I am now Team Leader at a similar project.

I can honestly say that I owe it all to Sara and her belief in me.

Sara’s professional yet empathetic approach immediately put me at ease.

At first I found it daunting to even tie a poster to a gate, but within a few weeks on her gardening project I was digging away, nurturing plants and building relationships with people – this did wonders for my confidence.

Her holistic approach to her work – combining gardening, nutrition and social support – has enabled me to overcome barriers in my life and feel capable of things I haven’t felt capable of in years. Sara has a gift both with people and with plants – I am very much indebted to her!
